A Huge Size Range and Fast Purging too...!
In the family range of Tube, Pipe and Pipeline Inflatable Weld Purging Systems, the latest scientific innovation to be released by Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® is the Argweld® QuickPurge® range of high speed inflatable Weld Purging Systems for pipework and pipelines.
The dramatic change to the new textured elegant black and grey 'state of the art' material gives the product an immediate industrial feel to it. This new material has a greater temperature resistance than before and a lower outgassing rate to help speed up the weld purge.
Part of the scientific breakthrough has been the addition of a simple but very effective weld purge gas release system called IntaCal®. No more complicated valves to set up with trial and error tests as this purge gas release system is using state of art technology.
IntaCal® is a very clever device that allows inflation of the dams and purging of the system at the optimum flow rate to ensure minimum usage of expensive inert gas.
Coupled with the new PurgeGate® mechanism, QuickPurge® systems are guaranteed for life to not to over inflate and burst due to over pressurisation, thereby ruining the systems.
The new positioning device RootGlo® uses a luminescent glow band in the centre of the device to help the welder position QuickPurge® Systems within the dark cavity of the pipe. Visual identification of positioning can be made easily now through the root gap of the pipe joint with RootGlo®.
This is truly a magnificent state of the art 21st century 'plug and play' pipe weld purging system that is a must for all industries welding stainless steel, titanium or alloy piping from 6 to 88" (152 to 2,235 mm) diameter.
Inflatable Weld Purging Systems have been specifically designed for tubes, pipes and pipelines to achieve oxide free, porosity free, clean, safe welds.
Old fashioned pipe purge bladders and tandem purging gas bags usually burst. Therefore our systems are specifically engineered with anti-burst features to avoid any risk of bursting. Our Pipe Purge Systems can be used time and time agai

Some advantages and key features of the Argweld® QuickPurge® Systems.
The systems are manufactured from a heat protective material so that the high temperatures at close proximity to the weld do not damage the devices.
Quick fit coupling for purge / inflation hose complete with 'O' ring for gas tight sealing and stainless steel collet to hold the tube mechanically tight. Now fitted with "Anti-Release" circlip to prevent parts accidentally separating inside the pipe.
Special attention has been paid to the selection of low vapour pressure materials to minimise outgassing in the purge space during welding giving greater assurance of obtaining a clean oxide free weld root.
Independently inflated dams to reduce volume of expensive purge gas used. The unique design of the central sleeve dramatically reduces purge volume.
Argweld® QuickPurge® are 'plug and play' systems, ready to use with no set up time.
Perfect central alignment and weld root obeservation with the RootGlo® centring band. The positioning strip will continue to glow in the dark for 12 hours and can easily be seen through the weld root which allows fast and accurate alignment.
No metal parts can scratch internally polished stainless steel tubes or pipes or cause cross contamination. The absence of metal parts in the proximity of the weld ensures that NDT examination is not disrupted.
In combination with the multiple sintered outlets and IntaCal® gas release mechanism, which is low profile precise device, the weld purge gas is dispersed evenly without turbulence.
Four pull straps on each dam multiple stitched with tough kevlar thread, each with a breaking strain of over 1000 lbs. Enables easy manipulation around bends and fittings as well as in straight pipes. Friction free coatings to allow easy movement through pipes from one joint to another.
With PurgeGate® technology, each device has absolute protection from bursting and over inflation of the systems.
Dramatic savings of time, gas and money that can be demonstrated when using the Argweld® QuickPurge® Systems. The purge gas volume needed to be purged is greatly reduced, providing lower operating costs, with gas and time savings, so each Argweld® QuickPurge® System pays for itself in just a few welds!
Argweld® QuickPurge® Systems are used for high quality, reliable welding of stainless steel tube and pipe joints as well as duplex and chrome steels, titanium, nickel and other alloy materials to ensure a very fast weld purge time and a very high quality weld root, free from oxidation and discolouration.

Avoid Wasting Time and Money
Traditional methods of weld purging often involve pipework fabricators making their own homemade pipe purging devices using incorrect poor quality materials, such as rubber, foam, cardboard and other similar materials which have high outgassing rates and potentially can damage welds.
Do not waste time and money with 'homemade' pipe purging devices.
These incorrect materials:
Can contain water vapour and air which can put your weld at risk!
Do not always form a perfect seal!
Can melt or burn if placed too close to the weld!
Take time and effort to produce a 'homemade' system with no guarantee of the results!
Save yourself all the struggling and opt for a professional solution and make money whilst you purge!

“Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® helped me out with the 40” QuickPurge® in Azerbaijan with BP a few years ago and if the opportunity arises, I would most definitely use your company again for the excellent service you provided.”
Roger Lee, Piping Engineer, Previously at BP
A customer asked this: "Anyone experience poor shielding phenomenon with purging Super Duplex Piping on large bore vs. small bore?" Another customer answered: "With the O2 at 0.4% and the correct flow rate you will get a NORSOK heat tint A root. Rons purge dams work because they reduce the volume of the pipe. Huntington Fusion also make dams that work. Try to keep your Dams 300 to 400mm apart and ensure you have enough flow rate, you may need to use 2 x purge lines oh yes 99.99% Ar not welding grade. Hope this helps."
Frequently Asked Questions
1.0 How can Argweld® QuickPurge® help me?
Dramatically reduced welding times achieved. Phenomenal savings in argon. For example, a 36" (900 mm) pipe joint might take from 4 to 8 hours to prepare and purge properly when using homemade devices such as discs made from cardboard, foam or rubber.
With Argweld® QuickPurge®, it takes as little as 10 minutes which includes placing the system into position, inflating the dams and purging.
2.0 What range of sizes is available?
6 to 88" (152 to 2,235 mm)
3.0 What is the overall length?
Lengths will vary according to the diameter. The space between the dams is kept very short to minimise inert gas use consistent with the need to provide adequate gas coverage.
4.0 Can Argweld® QuickPurge® Systems be used for 'return bends'?
It is necessary to tell HFT® at the time of order, that the QuickPurge® System is required for return bends. We will then manufacture longer collars to provide the necessary space to prevent the dams from being too close to the weld.
5.0 Are Argweld® QuickPurge® Systems re-usable?
Yes, QuickPurge® II pays for itself in a few welds. QuickPurge® is rugged and can be used for multiple welds.
6.0 What gases can I use with Argweld® QuickPurge® Systems?
