Argon Hose for Your Weld Purging System

07W-Argweld-Argon-Gas-Feed-HoseIt is important when welding metals such as stainless steel, titanium and zirconium that the welding zone is purged of oxygen even as low as 10 parts per million (ppm) before, during and immediately after welding, in order to achieve a clean, oxide free, zero colour weld.

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® now manufactures tailor made Argon Gas Feed Hose assemblies with leak tight fittings to attach immediately to their Argweld® range of Inflatable Tube and Pipe Weld Purging Systems at one end and to the gas source at the other.

Luke Keane, Distributor Support for HFT® said: “These special, high quality Argon Gas Feed Hoses, which can also be used for transporting nitrogen come complete with end fittings, providing welders with a guaranteed leak tight method of feeding non contaminated argon gas to their weld zone.”

Do not put your Welds at Risk

03W-InflatableWeldPurgeDamsFor closure welds, tight bends, T piece joints and dome end connections where a conventional Tandem Weld Purging System cannot be used, a range of low cost, single ended Inflatable Weld Purge Dams is available from Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT®.

Manufactured for pipe diameters from 6 to 96 inches (150 mm up to 2,440 mm) these lightweight systems are easy to inflate and are heat resistant up to 90oC (194oF).

Ron Sewell, Chairman at Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® said: “Even today, many companies are still allowing their technicians to spend many hours fabricating dams made of foam, cardboard, adhesive tape, wood and so on. Like paper, these materials contain a high percentage of water and water is very undesirable to have in the presence of a weld.

Out with the Old and In with the New

Purge-Monitor-APM5-PHO-12WWeld Purge Monitors® are an essential instrument to help obtain non-oxidised, zero colour welds by monitoring the oxygen content, ideal when purging with inert gas, when welding metals such as stainless steel, titanium and nickel alloy where a high quality weld is required.

Advancing in the science of manufacturing beyond other designs, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT®’s market leading PurgEye® 100 can help to eliminate the post weld cleaning costs. It is these costs that otherwise make the high cost of each weld ultra significant.

Michaela Reay, Marketing Associate for HFT® said: “The PurgEye® 100 is our low cost, IP65 rated, hand held unit, which reads from atmospheric level (20.94%) down to 100 parts per million (ppm). The PurgEye® 100 replaces our previous, out of date MKV monitor, which some companies are still using today.”

New MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrode Ingredients

06W MultiStrikesTungstenElectrodesRecognising the risk to health posed by the radio toxic red tipped thoriated tungsten electrodes that are in wide use in the welding industry, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® have developed MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrodes that are free from the potentially harmful thoria.

With non-radio toxic rare earth elements, MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrodes can be used for welding aluminium with the AC process as well as steels and alloys with the DC process.

MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrodes contain a mix of non-radioactive rare earth elements, which dramatically lower the working temperature of the tungsten, so making it longer lasting than all other tungsten electrodes used for TIG and Plasma welding.

Inflatable Stoppers come in many shapes, sizes and materials

07W-Inflatable StoppersReducing volume or blocking pipes, tanks or other circular orifices for purging, routine maintenance or to prevent the entry of foreign bodies can be much easier with an Inflatable Pipestopper®.

A range of standard and non-standard Inflatable Stoppers for tanks, chambers, tubes, pipes, pipework fabrications and ductwork are available from the Pipestoppers® Division of Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT®.

Recently, three extra large Inflatable Stoppers were manufactured for a special project. Georgia Gascoyne, CEO at Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® said: “The two 84” and one 90” were ordered for a project where large diameter pipes inside a turbo generator needed sealing. Within two weeks we were able to manufacture these special Inflatable Stoppers, which helped make the project a success.”

We have the Key to your Perfect Weld

21W PurgEye100 IP65 WeldPurgeMonitorWeld Purge Monitors® are an essential instrument to help obtain non-oxidised, zero colour welds by monitoring the oxygen levels when welding metals such as titanium, stainless, duplex and chrome steels as well as zirconium and nickel alloys where a high quality weld is required.

The Weld Purge Monitor® was invented by Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® in the 1970’s and with over 40 years of innovation, design and manufacturing experience, the company now has a Family Range of PurgEye® Weld Purge Monitors® to measure oxygen levels from atmospheric content (20.94%) down to 10 ppm (0.001%) at which point no discolouration in welds should occur.

By striving for zero colour welds, companies can eliminate the post-weld cleaning costs, which can be very high and in those cases making the cost of each weld ultra significant.

Freeze Sealing for Pipe Repair with Accu-Freeze™

20W-Accu-Freeze-Pipe-Freezing-SystemsContractors and Maintenance Personnel involved in repairing pipework in buildings and other constructions have long been beset with the problem of making repairs on tubes and pipes when they are full of fluid and may not be economically viable to drain.

Now the Accu-Freeze™ Pipe Freezing System is able to freeze a plug in fluid either side of a repair zone, isolating it, to allow work to be carried out without draining the whole system.

Luke Keane, Technical Support at HFT® said: “Accu-Freeze™ utilises liquid nitrogen (LN2) in a controlled way to freeze stationary liquids in a selected section of pipe or tube. By controlling the surface temperature of the pipe or tube, Accu-freeze™ can accurately and safely form an in-line ice plug, capable of withstanding 136 bar in diameters up to 12” (300 mm).”

QuickPurge® Your Pipes for Perfect Welds

QuickPurge Pipe Weld Purge SystemTime is money! Waiting for pipes to be purged ready for welding can take many hours, depending on the diameter of the pipe being welded and the method chosen for purging.

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® design and manufacture a range of QuickPurge® Inflatable Pipe Purging Systems which reduces waiting times so dramatically that they pay for themselves in less than one weld.

The company was recently tasked with a special project in the USA, where pipes with 90o elbows, up to 54” ø were required to be purged.

Georgia Gascoyne, CEO at HFT® said: “We manufactured QuickPurge® Systems with longer sleeves so that they could easily be pulled around the sharp bends in the pipework.

Flexible Welding Enclosures

Flexible EnclosuresOur Flexible Welding Enclosures® are in use globally and at Shapes Aerospace International they are used everyday for their titanium welding.

The enclosures provide a solution where a rigid chamber may not be economically viable or where space may be at a premium.

They create a purging environment for a fraction of the cost of a rigid chamber for the welding of titanium and zirconium, where the welding zone is required to be purged of oxygen to a level as low as 10 parts per million (ppm).

See what Shapes Aerospace International.......,

.........have to say........!
