Argweld® Quick Purge® Inflatable Pipe Weld Purging Systems
The Argweld® Quick Purge® Inflatable Pipeline Purging and Pipe Weld Purge Systems for pipe and vessel purging comprises a tandem inflatable dam system connected by an umbilical hose and collar to reduce the volume being purged.
A gas exhaust valve is installed between the umbilical and downstream dam, along with an auxilliary argon purge line.
Each Argweld® Quick Purge® System is covered with heat protective material on the inside, so that the higher temperatures closer to the weld do not damage the device.
The inflatable dams and umbilical hose are covered with a heat resistant material and insulated accordingly for use at temperatures up to 150ºC.

1.0 How can Argweld® Quick Purge® help me?
Reduced welding times, fast and quick times achieved. For example, a 36" (900 mm) pipe joint might take from 4 to 8 hours to prepare and purge properly when using purge dam systems using discs made from cardboard water-soluble materials or rubber.
With Argweld® Quick Purge®, it takes as little as 10 minutes which includes placing the system into position, inflating the dams and purging.
2.0 What range of sizes is available?
8 to 80" (200 to 2000 mm)
3.0 What is the overall length?
Lengths will vary according to the diameter. The space between the dams is kept very short to minimise inert gas use consistent with the need to provide adequate gas coverage. More information available on request
4.0 Can Argweld® Quick Purge® Systems be used for 'return bends'?
Yes, the Quick Purge® system is flexible and can accommodate most return bends. The sleeve is stiffened withflexible rods to prevent the material from touching the inside of the pipe.
5.0 Are Argweld® Quick Purge® Systems re-usable?
Yes, Quick Purge® pays for itself in a few welds. The products have been developed specifically for repeated use.
6.0 What gases can I use with Argweld® Quick Purge® Systems?
Argon (Europe) and Helium (N America) are the most common gases but any gas or gas mix can be used. Argon/hydrogen mixes and nitrogen have been used successfully.
7.0 What are Argweld® Quick Purge® Systems made from?
Predominantly flexible, durable, heat resistant materials selected for longevity.
8.0 How cost-effective are Argweld® Quick Purge® Systems?

11.0 How do I position the product in the pipeline?
Quick Purge® Systems are manufactured with pull loops that allow the fixing of pull cords. A glow strip is fixed in the centre of the Quick Purge® sleeve which can be seen readily through the root gap when making open root welds.
12.0 How long will Argweld® Quick Purge® Systems remain inflated?
Continuous purging will ensure effective sealing and this allows time for post-weld cooling and x-ray/ultrasonic inspection.
